Why us

Changsha Social Work College was established in the year of 1984, and was upgraded into a higher vocational college in 1999 with the permission of Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China. It is the first group of National Demonstrative Higher Vocational College, and also the first group of Extraordinary Higher Vocational College in Hunan province.

    Changsha Social Work College is located in the central area of Changsha city, Hunan province, which is the hometown of Chairman Mao. The college occupies the area of nearly 170 acres, with floor area of 450,000 square meters. It has a modern library with floor area of 23,500 square meters and a modern basketball arena with floor area of 15,300 square meters, holding more than 8,000 seats. Its Training Department is nearly 18 acres, including a hotel and a canteen, which can provide accommodation service for 500 trainees. The college enrolls students nationwide, providing full time college diploma, non-credential training certificate, professional qualification accreditation and HSK training. Now, the college has more than 19,000 students on the campus.

    Changsha Social Work College has nine secondary schools, proving for 41 programs. It has eight state-level programs,  two provincial demonstrative programs, two state-level training bases and one national teachers training base for vocational education and two provincial internship and training bases (teaching accreditation training). In addition, it has one national teaching resource database, seventeen state-level resource-sharing courses, four MOOC courses on the platform of Chinese university website, nine national teaching resource courses on public service platform and twenty two provincial ,ministerial excellent courses.

    The college is the Changsha Training Center of Junior Civil Affairs Supervisors for Ministry of Civil Affairs, Talents Training Base of Social Work program for Ministry of Civil Affairs, National Training Center of Civil Affairs Information Talents, National Research Base of Civil Affairs Policy Theory, and National Training Base of Civil Affairs Skills Accreditation.

    Changsha Social Work College has one National Outstanding Teacher,

    three Provincial Outstanding Teachers, two National Excellent Teachers, four Provincial Excellent Teachers, nine Provincial Program Leaders and twenty five Provincial Youth Backbone Teachers. It has 232 professors and associate professors. All of the middle-aged and young teachers are with master degrees. 200 teachers have experience of overseas study and research. Recently, our staffs have achieved nine national teaching awards, twenty eight provincial teaching awards, four first grades in the National Information Teaching Competition, and fifteen first grades in the Provincial Information Teaching Competition.

    Changsha Social Work College actively innovates its talents cultivation model with the theme of Integration of Production and Teaching, Cooperation of Enterprise and School, and Combination of Work and Study. Until now, it has established close partnerships with civil affairs industry, Kindee Software, ZTE Telecommunication Corporation, BOSCH, Mitsubishi Electric, China Southern Airlines, Yonyou, Deppon and other famous enterprises. Recently, our students have achieved more than 500 first grades in the skills competition, teaching contest and innovation and entrepreneurship contest in the above provincial levels. Twenty two of these awards are national first grades.

    Since 2009, Changsha Social Work College has been firmly advocating internationalization. It has signed cooperation agreements with Edge Hill University (U.K.), Ferris State University (U.S.A.), Stevens-Henager Colleg (U.S.A.), Chien Hsin University of Science and Technology (Taiwan) and other overseas universities and colleges. With these agreements, it has successfully carried out staff training, students exchange, degree promotion and other communication activities. In 2014, the Modern Funeral Technique and Management Program led the establishment of Asia Funeral Education and Culture Association, which got high reputation in the Southeast Asian countries. In 2017, the college established Silk Road International College together with ZTE Telecommunication Corporation, focusing on the construction of Internet of Things Applied Technology program, Cloud Computing Technology and Application program and other related programs.

    In March of 2016, Changsha Social Work College ranked No.5 in the National Higher Vocational Colleges Competitiveness Ranking List released by the Research Center for China Science Evaluation, China Education Quality Evaluation Center of Wuhan University, and Network of Science and Education Evaluation in China.
